Why would you join Stourbridge Running Club?

Why would someone join Stourbridge Running club? Well, lets talk about what we offer, all of which is included on the club membership unless specifically stated:

2 runs per week lead by experienced club runners. The group leaders know the area like the back of their hand. They’ll show you new areas, teach you new routes all whilst making sure the group is safe and that no-one us getting left behind. You’ll also find lots of the club are out and about on the weekends, just ask around and we’re sure you’ll find a group to join.

Bi-weekly track session. Lead by a couple of our more knowledgeable runners, these sessions take place every other Friday at The Dell stadium in Brierley Hill. After the group has warmed up you will follow an interval session that is suitable for all abilities and paces. These kind of sessions are brilliant at making you a better runner, plus it’s a safe and sociable place to run. Don’t want to do the session? No problem, just pop up and use the track however you want.

Use of Stourbridge Cricket Club facilities. Free parking, changing rooms, showers and toilets, food and drink after Wednesday runs (the food is provided by the club, you’ll have to buy your own drinks!). Use of the cricket clubs means you can meet up and chat with your fellow runners after your run on a Wednesday.

Meet like minded people. We know that some people just want to run, and that’s just fine with us. But if you want to meet liked minded people and talk races or running shoes, blisters or beers then we can provide just that. With a thriving social programme, food and drink after Wednesdays runs and regular meet ups at local races, we’ll make sure you’re around the right people.

Become a better runner. (But only if you want to be). If progression is your thing, whether you want to go further, faster or just do some different things then we can help. Running with others pushes you on, and you’ll be inspired by the achievements of the people around you. Whether you want to get under 30 minutes for parkrun, want to run a marathon or want to try ultra’s, there will be someone in the club who’s done it and can help you achieve your goals.

Beginners and Returners group. New to running or coming back after some time away? We run a bi-annual (normally January and June)  beginners and returns group where, with the help of our experienced runners, you can ease yourself (back) into running. No-one gets left behind, you’ll be supported at every step and will have great fun too. Whats more, it’s free for the first 8 weeks, you don’t even need to join the club.

Cross Country races. We know you hated it at school, we all did, but as an adult it’s brilliant fun. We complete as a club in local leagues as well as taking on Midland Championships and the legendary Cross Country National Champs. These races are suitable for all runners who are England Athletics affiliated and entry into them is included in your membership.

Road Relays. Like the cross country, the road relays give you the chance to run as a club. The relays are held annually at Sutton Park and we encourage everyone to get involved.

Socials *. We’re more than just a running club and we run a number of events over the year where we get together. Recently these have included paddle boarding, The Yorkshire 3 Peaks walk, numerous pub crawls, crazy golf and a Christmas party too.

*The cost of most socials is not covered by club membership

London Marathon ballot place. Want to run London but keep failing to get in on the ballot? Well, SRC are given 1 place per year be England Athletics and any EA affiliated member who’s been a member of SRC for more than 1 year and who was unsuccessful in the main ballot can enter the club draw for that place. And trust us when we say the odds are a lot better than in the official ballot.
