Courtesy of Dawn Nagle (club coaching co-ordinator) for taking the picture of some of the SRC members for coming to watch and taking the time out from there run to cheer us on, which I believe who took part in the race was very pleasing and warm reception we received to see other fellow members supporting us!

Race The Train™ 2017
Date: Saturday 19th August 2017
Location: Tywyn Mid-Wales
SRC committee have decided to announce this year we will be doing Race the train as our club race get away, previous years we have often done other races which has been great weekend away involving running & socialising, everyone welcome and get signed up! This unique event is a must for all multi - terrain runners. Many competitors return regularly to try and better their performance or just beat that train while others have run nearly every year since the races started. Most serious runners have heard about it either from their friends, TV, or the press so if you haven’t already competed perhaps this year is the time to attempt it. These events also give you the additional challenge of not only racing your fellow competitor’s but also the Train. Having been televised world-wide on several occasions we have attracted many runners from abroad coming from as far away as New Zealand, Australia, America, Hong Kong, Africa etc.

Wednesday 12th April 2017 - 7pm - The Alan Phillips Memorial Handicap 5mile Race 2017
at Stourbridge CC Pavilion.
The Memorial race started life well over twenty years ago, when the club met in the Labour Club, Hagley Road. The race is where everyone had a chance of winning, not just the fast guys. Alan Phillips was our Treasurer for many years, and he resigned shortly before his death. In the following year his wife gave us a trophy for the winner of the handicap event, and that’s how the name came about.
Start time is approximately between 6.45pm to 7.15pm
The is course is the usual route as in previous years to the scrap yard and back, with marshals along the way to direct you.
The rules then were the same as today – i.e. people gave me their 10km time and we sent people off at different times with the intention of everyone finishing at the same time.
Over the next few weeks we will be collecting names and your current 10Km time at the club on Monday and Wednesday nights.
Hope to see you many of you taking part on the 12th April!
