Bridge to Bridge via Port

Follow footpaths with River Severn on your left to Bewdley.

In Bewdley, after CP2, continue to bridge, under arches, double back & cross bridge and follow paths to Stourport with river on your right.

At Stourport, cross through locks and over road onto canal. There will be a Marshall at the road crossing but he/she will not stop traffic. Please be patient.

From here, remain on the canal all the way to the Bonded Warehouse.

The Canal has one minor road crossing. There will be no Marshall.

There are two junctions on the Canal, each time turn right.

The first is Stourton Bridge 33 at 30 miles & will be signposted Birmingham. (Water Station).

The second is Wordsley Junction Bridge (not numbered) at 33 miles will be signposted Stourbridge. (Unmanned). (Ashwood School, Stourbridge Canal Arm Canoe Club & Football pitches on the left.)

The course along the river is a variety of open fields, woodland and narrow paths, with various obstacles such as kissing gates, stiles, uneven ground, tree roots, pipework, branches & possibly sheep.

Recommended footwear: the first two legs can be quite muddy and is suitable for trail shoes. The second two legs are on the canal and more likely to be suited to road shoes.

The Course is approximately 34 miles. The relay is 8, 6, 10 & 10 miles.

This gives relay runners the option of doing 2 or more legs with a total of 14, 16, 20, 24 or 26 miles.

Runners are self-supported but there are three checkpoints – the relay changeovers – at approximately 8, 14 & 24 miles which serve as water stations, runners can leave drinks etc at the start to be taken to the checkpoints. Split times will be taken at the check points.

There will also be water stations at 19 & 30 miles.

There will be a coach provided to transport ultra runners from finish to start. Relay runners will have to make their own arrangements to get between checkpoints. If there is enough interest, we will look at providing transport between points for relay runners.

Runners and supporters may be able to use the Severn Valley Railway between checkpoints. The SVR has stations at Bridgnorth, Highley & Bewdley.

The finish area is at the Bonded Warehouse, Canal Street, Stourbridge, DY8 4LU

Entry for the Ultra is: £26 (affiliated) £28 (unaffiliated) – minimum age 20.
